- Awaiting Acknowledgment - The request has not yet been acknowledged by the agency. The user has not received any response or communication from the agency since the request was filed.
- Awaiting Appeal - The user appealed the agency's response and that appeal has been sent.
- Awaiting Response - The agency has acknowledged the request and is processing it. MuckRock will follow up
- Completed - The agency has released all files and records it considers to be fully responsive to the request.
- Fix Required - The request requires the user's attention. Most often it is because the agency needs clarification from the user. The request will not progress until the user responds to the agency.
- In Litigation - MuckRock use only โ if weโre collaborating with a user to pursue a request in court.
- No Responsive Documents - The agency's search did not result in any responsive records, either because the records do not exist or the agency is not the owner of the records.
- Partially Completed - Agency has provided an incomplete set of responsive documents and will release the remaining documents gradually.
- Payment Required - The user must pay the agency a fee for searching, compiling and/or sending records. Payments should always be processed through MuckRock to ensure that we can track them.
- Processing- MuckRock staff is completing a required task to move the request along. Examples of this include sending the request through an online portal or sending a check in the mail. No action is required from the requester.
- Rejected - The agency denied the request for some reason. Typically they are required to say why.
- Withdrawn - The request was withdrawn by the user or by MuckRock.
